Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I register for I Cambristi?

To register with I Cambristi, as a member or participant in an activity organised by the association, you need to register on our site.

To do this, click on the ‘Log in’ link at the top right of the home page. Then click on the ‘Sign up’ link and fill in all the required fields

  • Do I have to be a member of I Cambristi to take part in an activity?

With the exception of concert evenings and Music and Tea, for which you need to be a member and have paid your membership fee, Tutti, Play-In and Master Classes are open to everyone.

Concert evenings and end-of-course auditions (Tutti, Master Classes) are open to the public and free of charge.

  • If I want to take part in an activity without being a member, what should I do?

If you would like to take part in a Tutti, Play-In or Master Class without being a member of our association, we ask you to register on our website, without paying the membership fee.

This will enable us to contact you and find out which instrument(s) you play when you register for the activity of your choice.
You can register for an activity either online, via the link provided on the information page, or by sending an email to the organisers, who will keep you informed of the details.

  • I'm a new member, how do I join a group?

As a new member, you're naturally keen to join a chamber music ensemble with other musicians. Here are a few tips to help you get started:

  1. I take part in concert evenings, Music & Tea or Play-Ins. This gives me the opportunity to meet other musicians and express my interest in starting a group or joining an existing one.

During these evenings, I make myself known and share my wishes with the members of the organising committee.

  2. I post a message on our association's forum (see menu ‘Members’ Area -> Forum and Discussions')

  3. I consult the ‘Member Search’ page to find the contact details (email, telephone number) of members, by name or by instrument played.

  4. I don't expect to be contacted; this is unlikely to happen as our association does not intervene in the creation of groups. However, contacting one of the members of the organising committee will also provide some information.

  • What does I Cambristi do?
  1.

    Evening concerts

Concert evenings are organised several times a year in a hall that can accommodate several dozen people. Groups of musicians wishing to play there register using the information on the home page. There are usually three or four different groups playing at these evenings. All the groups of members of our association can come and play, whatever their level of musical performance.

  2.

    Music & Tea

Music & Tea are afternoon house recitals in a more intimate and convivial setting, organised in the home of one of our members. The audience is inevitably smaller, and the music can be played in a more relaxed way.

  3. Play-In

Play-Ins are sight-reading sessions, not necessarily prepared in advance. Musicians who sign up can also propose works, and groups are formed on the spot according to level and instruments present. It's an excellent opportunity to meet other musicians.

Sometimes pieces can be proposed in advance.

Play-Ins are often supervised by a few professional musicians.

  4. Tutti
Tutti's are one or two-day sessions, coached by professional musicians.
This can be a ‘Tutti Orchestre’ where everyone plays an orchestral work together, or a short course where groups of musicians sign up and study a work that they propose to the coaches. There are several periods of individual group coaching during a Tutti and an audition given by the groups at the end of these days.

  5. Master Classes
Master Classes are residential sessions lasting three days (or more) and led by renowned musicians. It's the same principle as the Tuttis, where the groups work on their works for several periods a day, some of which are coached by professionals. The Master Classes also end with a public audition performed by the participants.

  6. Happy Hours
As the name suggests, this is just a non-musical activity where we meet over a drink to get to know each other better, get to know new members or talk about the life of our association to better satisfy the wishes of our members.

  • What are membership fees for?

The membership fee covers:
